The staff selection commission(SSC) of India conducts exams like CGL(Combined Graduate Level Examination), CHSL(Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam), and  MTS(Multitasking Staff) every year for recruitment to different government organizations. Exams are also conducted for posts like  Junior Engineer, Junior Hindi Translator, SSC GD Constable, SI (Central Police Organization)

Stenographer C & D. Each exam requires different kinds of preparation strategies for cracking the exam. General Knowledge, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English are the skills tested in these exams. English is generally a well-scoring subject if prepared properly. SSC CGL 

SSC CGL is the top SSC exam and cracking this exam needs hard work and perseverance. It is very important to know the syllabus and exam pattern of every exam you are preparing for. The English section of SSC CGL tests the knowledge and expertise of the candidate in the English language and comprehension. SSC CGL Tier 1 and Tier 2 have the English questions. For Tier 1, there will be 25 questions in the English section, each carrying 2 marks. For Tier 2, there will be 200 questions, each carrying one mark. There will be different types of questions like spelling tests, idioms, and phrases, fill in the blanks, one-word substitution, spotting the error, para jumbles, and jumbled sentences. SSC CHSL

SSC CHSL is another in-demand test after SSC CGL. SSC CHSL gets you placed for posts like Lower Division Clerk, Junior Secretariat Assistant, Data Entry Operator, Sorting Assistant, and Postal Assistant. This exam also has great weightage for English comprehension. You can excel in this exam by attempting previous year’s question papers and practicing well on the question pattern. The question pattern for the English section is somewhat similar to the SSC CGL exam. The difficulty level of the CHSL exam is much lower than that of SSC CGL.

SSC MTS 

Compared to CGL and CHSL exams, SSC MTS is easier. But this exam also needs systematic preparation and strategies to crack the exam. There are two papers for SSC MTS, the first paper is objective and the second paper is descriptive. In the first paper, out of 100 questions. 25 questions are from the English section, each carrying one mark. This implies that one-fourth of the questions of the first paper is from the English section. So, all the aspirants need to work hard on their English skills in order to crack the exam.

SSC CPO  

The SSC CPO exam also demands English skills to pass the exam. There are 50 questions from the English section, each carrying one mark for this exam. Five questions each will be asked from the 10 subsections of English comprehension, like idioms and phrases, reading comprehension, spotting error, etc.

SSC GD CONSTABLE

For the SSC GD constable exam, there is an option for you to choose between English and Hindi. Those candidates who are fluent in Hindi can opt for Hindi and those who are not fluent in Hindi can opt for English. The choice can be made completely based on your knowledge and expertise. There will be 25 questions from English/Hindi for this exam. No matter which language you’ve chosen, be well prepared.

For this exam, there will be 100 questions from the English language and comprehension section, each carrying one mark. Candidates who have passed 12th grade from any affiliated board can apply for this exam. The similar types of English questions asked for other SSC exams are followed here too, like idioms and phrases, sentence correction, fill in the blanks, direct and indirect speech, etc.
